Tetrahydrofurfuryl Alcohol
Tetrahydrofurfuryl Alcohol – Importance and Applications
Tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA) is a versatile organic compound derived from furfural, a renewable resource obtained from agricultural biomass.
Widely valued in the chemical industry, THFA is used as a high-performance solvent and a key intermediate in the synthesis of resins, plasticizers, and pharmaceuticals. Its biodegradability and low toxicity make it an environmentally responsible choice across multiple applications. THFA is also used in agricultural formulations and specialty coatings. As a member of the furfural family, it serves as a valuable precursor to a wide range of advanced molecular scaffolds and functional materials.
